The Philadelphia Eagles and their fans seem to be getting some sort of enjoyment over this latest saga during Ezekiel Elliott’s holdout.

While the main focus for the Philadelphia Eagles at the moment continues to be training camp, the team is also keeping an eye on the situation with the Dallas Cowboys involving Ezekiel Elliott‘s holdout.

Despite having two years remaining on his contract, Elliott has made it clear to the Cowboys he wants to receive some sort of record deal from the team, and in a way, it’s easy to understand why.

Comparing Elliott’s numbers to the amount of money ($3.85 million base salary in 2019) he’s scheduled to make over the next two seasons, there’s no question that Dallas is getting the star running back at an absolute steal.

With that being said, there’s no telling when this holdout could potentially come to an end since neither party seems to be giving in at the moment.

But one thing seems certain, which are recent comments made by Jerry Jones didn’t help the situation with Elliott.

First off, let the record show that without Elliott, chances are the Cowboys wouldn’t have finished on top of the NFC East in two of the last three seasons, because his presence makes that big of a difference.

Entering the NFL in 2016, Dallas and football fans in general realized how much of a workhorse Elliott truly was after watching the way he would shred opposing defenses at Ohio State.

Rightfully so, Cowboys fans would love nothing more than to see Jones give in and reward Elliott with the kind of money he clearly deserves, but at least for Eagles fans, the added drama only puts bigger smiles on their faces.

Even though training camp just started, and there’s no reason for concern over Elliott missing any time when it matters the most come September, Philadelphia realizes what kind of advantage they could gain in the NFC East the longer this drags out.

Holdouts in general are never fun to deal with in sports, but these recent comments by Jones will most likely make Elliott feel under-appreciated for the work he’s put in since joining the Cowboys in 2016.

So while the Cowboys continue to be a popular topic of discussion thanks to Elliott and Jones, at least the Eagles are drawing all sorts of high praise for the way this team has looked so far in training camp.

Obviously, Philadelphia still has a long way to go when it comes to proving they deserve to be the favorites to win the NFC East, but at least as mentioned before, if this situation with Elliott continues to be dramatic, it’s only going to help the Eagles chances.
