3. Will contract situation become an issue with Jenkins?

First off, it’s safe to say that Malcolm Jenkins deserves whatever kind of money he wants from the Eagles since the veteran has been one of the key leaders for the team over the last couple of years.

Not to mention, the argument can also be made that without Jenkins, Philadelphia never would have been able to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history during the 2017 season, meaning the team should do whatever it takes to make him happy.

Even if the argument can be made that Jenkins only has a few good years remaining, and the money should be spent elsewhere, as long as he can continue contributing on a high level, this is all that should matter for the Eagles.

By earning Pro Bowl honors in three of the last five seasons (including two in a row), questioning whether Jenkins can still play at a high level sounds ridiculous, and the last thing Philadelphia should want to deal with is his contract situation becoming a distraction in camp.

Jenkins has every reason in the world to believe he’s outplayed his current deal, and maybe if the veteran safety is lucky, the Eagles won’t take much longer to reward him with a new contract he clearly deserves.
