If there were any chance of the Philadelphia 76ers upgrading at shooting guard with Danny Green over J.J. Redick, it would be amazing.

While most of the attention at the moment surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers at the moment is on Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris for free agency, the team also faces a tough decision at the shooting guard position as well.

Over the last two seasons, J.J. Redick‘s presence has been unbelievable for the Sixers since this young team was in desperate need of a veteran leader for some of the younger players, but also it came at a hefty price.

After playing on back-to-back one-year deals, Philadelphia is in a similar boat to last summer when it comes to deciding whether it would be worth bringing Redick back for another year to put the team in better position to compete in the Eastern Conference.

However, if Danny Green were to somehow become an option for the Sixers in free agency, this would almost seem like a no brainer for Philadelphia to go after since the argument can be made that he would be an upgrade at the position over Redick.

Even though Green has rightfully already indicated how much he would love to return to the Toronto Raptors after recently winning the championship, nothing is set in stone at the moment.

As much as the Raptors would love to bring Green back since he was a key contributor to the team taking home their first NBA title after taking down the Golden State Warriors, the money factor could very well come into play.

Despite recently turning 32, Green clearly still has plenty of great basketball left in him, and Philadelphia could very well take a similar approach like they did with Redick the last two seasons when it comes to opening up the checkbook for the veteran.

Plenty of Sixers fans will make the case that Redick is more reliable in the scoring department, but also on top of Green’s impressive 3-point shooting, his amazing defensive skills set him apart in a big way from Redick.

But as mentioned before, since Green seems like he would prefer to remain in Toronto to help the team continue to build off this past season’s success, the chances of the veteran guard coming to Philadelphia will continue to be considered a long shot.

In time, Sixers fans will see what kind of moves the team ends up making in free agency, but if the opportunity is there to upgrade at shooting guard by signing Green instead of Redick, just imagine what kind of impact this could make.
