With the No. 34 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers went with a reliable scorer in Bobby Brink.

After seeing how things turned out this past season, the Philadelphia Flyers realized the importance of putting together a successful 2019 NHL Draft to make the fan base feel better about heading into next year.

Time and time again, the Flyers always seem to be one of those teams with high expectations each season, yet always struggle to come up short.

Based off some of the previous moves already made this offseason through trades, Philadelphia fans had every reason in the world to feel confident heading into the weekend with the draft officially getting underway.

Despite mixed reactions over the team’s first selection on Friday when the Flyers decided to go with Cam York after trading back to No. 14, deep down this pick could work wonders with the defenseman’s skill set.

However, if Philadelphia fans really want to be excited about this year’s group of players from the draft, all they need to do is look to the second round with Bobby Brink.

Even though Brink was only selected three picks into the second round (No. 34), it always feels good for a team like the Flyers to land this kind of first-round talent this late.

Taking home USHL Forward of the Year honors during the 2018-19 season certainly didn’t happen on accident for Brink, and while there are a few areas in need of improvement for the youngster, his scoring abilities alone make this an exciting selection for Philadelphia.

Seeing how things have played out over the last couple of seasons for the Flyers, this is a team who can use all of the playmakers they can get to build a successful future.

In time, the decision to trade up to No. 34 to land Brink after trading down the previous round seems like it will pay off in a big way for the Flyers, especially if the forward lives up the hype.

Just look at how Brink managed to score 35 goals last season for the Sioux City Musketeers to go along with 33 assists, and it’s easy to understand the excitement in Philadelphia surrounding this selection.

Brink still has a long way to go when it comes to proving himself worthy, but at least the early indications point to this potentially being a steal for the Flyers, which they could certainly use after the results of last season.
