No matter how unhappy some fans are, the Philadelphia 76ers aren’t going to trade Ben Simmons this offseason.

As the Philadelphia 76ers and their fans continue to wonder what could have been in the Eastern Conference Finals if they didn’t come up short against the Toronto Raptors, the discussions surrounding whether the team should trade Ben Simmons just won’t go away.

With the Sixers coming up short the way they did against the Raptors, many have put a good amount of the blame on Simmons not having the reliable jump shot a team like Philadelphia needs to be a serious contender in the Eastern Conference.

Shooting wise, it’s no secret the Philadelphia star’s jump shot is laughable compared to other players across the league, but also the Sixers knew this back in 2016 when they drafted him after one season at LSU.

For Simmons, the Sixers guard makes up for his lack of jump shot in other areas, whether it happens to be his physical style of play to be aggressive or simply setting his teammates up in the best way possible to put the ball in the basket.

Plus, with Simmons only being 22, and coming off his first All-Star appearance, Philadelphia knows deep down that he’s only beginning to scratch the surface of his true potential, meaning the thought of giving up on him already at this stage of his career would be ridiculous.

Back in 2016, Simmons was considered one of the top prospects in the draft for a reason with the potential to quickly become one of the league’s next best players.

Basketball fans can say whatever they want about Simmons, and how frustrating it can be at times that Philadelphia seems to be at a disadvantage due to his poor jumper, but also he’s one of the reasons the Sixers have been serious playoff contenders over the last two seasons.

Whether the frustrated Philadelphia fans want to hear it or not, Simmons has only played two full seasons in the NBA, and obviously still has a lot of learning to do before the Sixers officially reach that next level in the Eastern Conference.

After all those years spent rebuilding and trusting the process, it shouldn’t be too difficult for Sixers fans to be a little more patient towards Simmons.

Looking at the long run, Philadelphia knows Simmons will be worth being patient over, meaning the temptation over any potential trade most likely just isn’t there for the Sixers, which is the proper approach.
