Miles Sanders, JJ Arcega-Whiteside already look great in green

While the 2019 NFL season is still months away, Miles Sanders and JJ Arcega-Whiteside have made their Philadelphia Eagles debut at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere.

After failing to have a representative at the 2018 NFLPA Rookie Premiere, the Philadelphia Eagles were very well represented at this year’s event.

That’s right, despite having only five selections in the 2019 NFL Draft, the team’s two Day 2 selections, Penn State running back Miles Sanders and Stanford wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside received invites to this year’s NFLPA Premiere; joining a class of 40 players pigeonholed to become the league’s new, well, premiere players.

And most importantly of all, the duo already look right at home in midnight green.

Now one could argue that the NFLPA should be ashamed for not inviting Andre Dillard to take part in the event, as he clearly has the highest upside of any player in the team’s draft class and could very well spend a decade protecting Carson Wentz‘s blindside, but based on the players featured in the picture, this is not about substance; it’s about flash.

Of the 40 players in attendance, eight play quarterback, 11 play running back, 17 play wide receiver, three play tight end and only one, San Francisco 49ers‘ second overall pick Joey Bosa, plays on the defensive side of the ball.

Are all of those players going to become stars? No way, and honestly, a lot of them, like Easton Stick, Will Grier, and Jarrett Stidham, probably won’t even play much as rookies, but in the current, offense-crazy NFL, those players are going to get the nod over players like Dillard, and pretty much any defensive player.

The more you know, I guess.

But how does the Eagles’ Rookie Premier class compare to that of their NFC East counterparts? I’m glad you asked.

Though there’s no way to quantify which class is better until they actually take the field, the Washington Redskins had three players featured at the event (Dwayne Haskins, Bryce Love, Terry McLaurin), the New York Giants had two (Daniel Jones, Darius Slayton) and the Dallas Cowboys only had one (Tony Pollard).

dark. Next. What’s going on with Jay Ajayi?

Now, will any of those players be able to challenge Sanders for Rookie of the Year (more on that here)? I kind of doubt it, but with the 2019 NFL season still so far away, it’s nice to get a sneak peek of the Philadelphia Eagles’ new offensive playmakers in their midnight green garbs.
