The Philadelphia 76ers would love to see Greg Monroe put together a similar performance in Game 3 against the Toronto Raptors like Monday night.

Back at the beginning of April when the Philadelphia 76ers decided to sign Greg Monroe, the move was done as an insurance policy in case the team needed another big man for the playoffs.

Whether Sixers fans want to hear it or not, the concerns are always going to be there for Joel Embiid when it comes to his health, and while playing under the weather in Game 2 is a bit of a different situation, this also shows Philadelphia needs to have the necessary insurance.

That’s where Monroe came into play after the backup center took advantage of the 11 minutes he played by posting 10 points to go along with five rebounds.

Most importantly, Monroe’s contribution helped Philadelphia pull off the unthinkable by actually winning a game in Toronto for the first time in what felt like forever to even the series up 11 heading into Thursday’s Game 3.

All of a sudden, the Sixers are playing with all of the confidence in the world since this went from a team looking like they were going to get swept to a competitor that could actually take down the Raptors, although it’s important to take things one game at a time.

Plenty of factors will come into play once again for Philadelphia in Game 3, and hopefully the Sixers realize how much of a difference maker Monroe could end up being if Monday is any indication of what to expect moving forward.

Boban Marjanovic has certainly been a great backup at times since coming on board from the Los Angeles Clippers before the trade deadline, but Monroe just seems like a much better option for this series against the Raptors.

If Monroe and James Ennis can come through with big outings once again in Game 3, it’s only going to increase Philadelphia’s chances of taking down Toronto this series to help punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Never in a million years did Sixers fans ever think Monroe would end up in position to have a key role this postseason, but this is turning out to be an underrated signing for Philadelphia that could work wonders for the rest of the playoffs.
