And last but not least, with the 30th-overall selection, the Giants actually traded back into the first with the Seattle Seahawks to select Georgia cornerback DeAndre Baker.

While this move came as a bit of a surprise, it actually may have been the Giants best selection of the night, which admittedly isn’t saying much.

Measuring in at 5-foot-11, 193 pounds, Baker is a pretty prototypical cornerback by modern-day NFL standards, and should easily find a home, and starting role, in the Giants defense sooner than later.

In a lot of ways, Baker kind if reminds me of Eli Apple, another former Giants cornerback who pretty much quit on the team last season and finished out his 2018 campaign as a member of the New Orleans Saints.

Had the Giants fought a little harder to retained Apple, this move would feel a bit odd, but at the end of the day, New York had a desperate need to fill out their secondary with a talented player, and Baker fits that bill as a more likely than not Day 1 starter.
