Round 2, Pick 57: Offensive Tackle Kaleb McGary, Washington

As mentioned before, the beauty of having two picks in the second round is Philadelphia could easily focus on each side of the football if they choose to do so. And if this does in fact end up being the approach, the Eagles focusing on the offensive like at No. 57 seems like a favorable option to consider.

Sooner or later, Philadelphia realizes that key veterans like Jason Peters and Jason Kelce will have to call it careers by retiring, which means the team needs to make sure they’re properly prepared for the time when it does happen.

Even if the Eagles decided to use one of their early picks on an offensive lineman with the intention of having them develop a year or two behind the veterans, this approach could work wonders in the long run.

Washington’s Kaleb McGary is one rookie that seems like a strong candidate to get selected on Day 2 of the draft, and while the offensive tackle has some areas in need of improvement, this also shows he could be exactly what Philadelphia is looking for.

Once McGary does make the transition to the NFL, hopefully some of his weaknesses like footwork will improve so he can have a meaningful career.
