With the 2019 NFL Draft quickly approaching, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is another name worth keeping an eye on for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Before the Philadelphia Eagles know it, the 2019 NFL Draft will officially be here, as the team will look to fill numerous holes on both sides of the football to put them in better position to compete once again next season.

Despite coming up short this past season in repeating as Super Bowl champions, the Eagles have plenty to build from heading into 2019 after the team earned a trip to the Divisional Round before falling to the New Orleans Saints.

Coming up short against New Orleans left Philadelphia with an awful feeling since they jumped out to an early lead, and seemed to be on their way to an upset win over the Saints.

But on a positive note, if all goes well in 2019, Doug Pederson‘s team should be able to earn another trip to the playoffs for a third year in a row with the Eagles looking to compete for their second Super Bowl title in three seasons.

As for what to expect in the upcoming draft, Philadelphia will have plenty of options to consider in the first round at No. 25, and if the team’s decision came down to taking the best player available, this wouldn’t come as a surprise one bit.

Could Chauncey Gardner-Johnson turn out to be the “best player available” for the Eagles at No. 25 in the first round?

Safety is a position that Philadelphia hopes to improve on in this year’s draft, and while plenty of other teams have rightfully expressed interest in the Florida product, it is good to see the Eagles expressing interest in Gardner-Johnson through a private workout.

Without question, chances are that Gardner-Johnson will be off the board by the time Day 2 gets underway in the draft, and even if the Eagles felt the need to trade up a few spots from No. 25 to land the safety, it would seem worth the risk.

Like most rookies, Gardner-Johnson has a few areas in need of improvement, with footwork being one that stands out the most.

However, one of the great things about the thought of Gardner-Johnson joining Philadelphia would be the opportunity to work with a proper coaching staff along with veterans like Malcolm Jenkins seems to have all sorts of potential.

From now until the start of the draft, there will be plenty of speculation over who the Eagles will strongly consider with their first pick, but if the private workout with Gardner-Johnson is any indication of the direction they’re heading, the team will be in great shape.
