The Villanova basketball team won their third Big East Championship in a row on Saturday to give the Wildcats a major confidence boost before the big tournament.

Over the last couple of months, the Villanova basketball team has seen plenty of ups and downs, as last year’s champions knew they were in for quite the challenge during the 2018-19 season when it comes to defending their title.

While it was difficult to lose key players from last year’s championship run to the NBA such as Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo, the Wildcats still felt confident in being able to compete this season with players like Phil Booth and Eric Paschall still on the roster.

With Villanova currently sitting in the No. 25 seed before the official release of the bracket for the big tournament, the Wildcats had some business to take care of on Saturday in an attempt to secure their third Big East Championship in a row.

One day after a thrilling overtime win over the Xavier Musketeers, Villanova knew they would be in for another tough challenge in the Big East Championship facing a Seton Hall squad looking to make one final case for a spot in the big dance.

Unfortunately for the Pirates, the Wildcats ended up being too much to handle, as Jay Wright’s team would hang on for the 74-72 victory thanks to a strong outing by Paschall after the forward led the way with 17 points to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.

All of a sudden, this Villanova team seems determined to shock the basketball world by proving they do have what it takes to make a serious run over these next couple of weeks in the upcoming tournament, although that’s always easier said than done.

Fans can say what they want about the Wildcats after looking at some of the frustrating times from the regular season, but experience is always super important this time of year in March.

Winning their third title in four seasons is going to be extremely difficult when looking at some of the other teams that appear to be in better position to win it all, but Villanova is ready for the challenge.
