The Philadelphia Eagles are already keeping themselves busy in free agency after agreeing to terms with Malik Jackson to boost the defense.

In what shouldn’t come as a surprise one bit, the Philadelphia Eagles are already keeping themselves busy during free agency to make sure they’re in the best position possible to earn a trip to the playoffs for a third year in a row.

Right away, the one key move that stood out the most on Monday was the Eagles agreeing to a one-year deal with Jason Peters to make sure Carson Wentz continues to receive the necessary protection under center.

But if football fans want to talk about the most exciting move made by Philadelphia on the day, it’s tough to top the news surrounding Malik Jackson, and how the defensive tackle has agreed to come on board for the 2019 season.

Reports indicated on Monday that Jackson and the Eagles have agreed to a deal, which already has fans excited about the potential the unit has with the defensive tackle playing alongside Fletcher Cox.

From previously winning a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos a few years back to earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl in 2017 as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars after setting a career high of eight sacks, Jackson brings a ton to the table for Philadelphia’s defense.

All of a sudden, the surprise decision from last week in which the Eagles agreed to send Michael Bennett to the New England Patriots in a trade doesn’t sound so bad after all now that Jackson’s presence will help make up for it.

When looking at how the NFC East is shaping out with all of the power on offense from teams like the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, Philadelphia realizes the defense will have their hands full in 2019.

Now that Jackson is officially part of the mix, all eyes will be on the 29-year-old defender to see how much of an impact he can make on defense to put the Eagles in the best position possible to compete.

Philadelphia still has plenty of work to do when it comes to adding depth at numerous positions, but at least with the signing of Jackson, the team is off to a fantastic start in free agency, and even Cox has wasted little time expressing his excitement over the key move on defense.
