In his first 48 hours with the Philadelphia Phillies, Bryce Harper has already set a major record: the fastest selling Fanatics jersey of all time.

Bryce Harper is hot right now.

While he’s only been a member of the Philadelphia Phillies for a few days, Harper’s has already created a renewed interest in the team the likes of which hasn’t been seen in my lifetime.

Seriously, when was the last time a free agent acquisition became a Philadelphia team’s most popular player without playing single a game?

Sure, we all love the City of Brotherly Love, but unlike, say, New York or Los Angeles, the premier free agents, specifically legitimate top-5 stars nary chose to take their talents to Philadelphia and become the new face of a storied franchise.

Harper is that kind of player, and two days into his Phillies tenure he’s already breaking records.

According to Michael Rubin, the co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, REFORM Alliance founder, and the owner of Fanatics, Harper’s brand new Phillies #3 has sold more jerseys in its first 48 hours than any other in history, regardless of sport.

That’s right, more people have ordered Harper jerseys than when LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers, Giancarlo Stanton joined the New York Yankees, and Khalil Mack became a member of the Chicago Bears.

Very impressive stuff.

The demand for Harper jerseys have been so strong that according to NBC Sports Philadelphia the clubhouse store at Citizens Bank Park has literally ‘run out of Rs for Adult Home & Road jerseys’, an unfortunate consequence of having a superstar outfielder with two rs in his last name.

Now granted, if this is true, it looks like the clubhouse store will have more letter in stock soon, but after watching the Phillies trot out a revolving collection of youngsters, oldsters, and stopgap players, it looks like fans in the 215 have fully embraced their new franchise player, and want to wear that love on their sleeves (or back) for the world to see.

Next. Bryce Harper will switch jersey, wear No. 3 with Philadelphia Phillies. dark

Who knows, maybe once he’s actually played a game in the red and white pinstripes that number will continue to rise, making Bryce Harper the best-selling jersey of 2019. If the Philadelphia Phillies make a legitimate title run, I think that’s a very real possibility.
