Philadelphia Phillies fans wasted little time purchasing tickets for the 2019 season so they could get in on the Bryce Harper action, especially for Opening Day.

After all of the frustrating months filled with non-stop rumors, the Philadelphia Phillies finally landed the star free agent they’ve wanted all along in Bryce Harper, as the two parties are finalizing a whopping 13-year, $330 million deal.

Best part is, the deal has no opt-out or no-trade clause, meaning if all goes well, Harper is going to spend the rest of his career playing for the Phillies.

Dating back to last season, Philadelphia was always considered one of the top potential landing spots for Harper since unlike most teams, they could afford to sign the star outfielder to the kind of contract he would be looking for in 2019.

All of a sudden, the Phillies just watched their odds to make a World Series run skyrocket since this team was already considered a potential sleeper in the National League thanks to a successful offseason consisting of underrated moves like Jean Segura or Andrew McCutchen.

Now that Harper is on board, one can only imagine how much fun this Philadelphia team is going to be watch not just in 2019, but for years to come. And if baseball fans in general thought the Phillies fan base was excited about Harper coming to the City of Brotherly Love, just wait until they see how quickly tickets are already being purchased.

As our friends over at Vivid Seats pointed out, The Bryce Harper Effect is alive and well in Philly after looking at how much ticket sales skyrocketed shortly after the news broke on Thursday afternoon, especially for Opening Day when the Phillies take on the Atlanta Braves.

Seeing how the get-in price alone for this key NL East battle skyrocketed from $47 to $87 in a little over an hour on Thursday shows how much excitement there is surrounding the Harper deal, and it’s not going to slow down anytime soon.

Plenty of people have criticized Philadelphia for this insane contract since no individual seems worthy of making that kind of money just to play baseball, but if Harper helps bring numerous World Series titles over the next couple of years, this will seem well worth it.
