It looks like the Philadelphia Eagles will be seeing Jason Witten again in 2019 now that he’s returning to the Dallas Cowboys after one year in retirement.

For most of his 15-year career with the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Witten was an absolute nightmare for the Philadelphia Eagles each season, and it looks like the Super Bowl 52 champions will have to deal with the future Hall of Famer once again for at least the 2019 season.

In a week that has surprisingly been filled with plenty of exciting football news, Witten announced on Thursday his intention to end retirement, and return to the Cowboys after spending last year in the broadcast booth as part of the Monday Night Football crew.

After watching Dallas win the NFC East title for the second time in three seasons last year, Dallas certainly deserves a ton of credit for getting back on track after failing to live up to expectations in 2017.

Right away, one of the first thoughts in the minds of Eagles fans when the Witten announcement was released is how different things might have been in the postseason this past January if the tight end was part of the picture.

While there’s no way of knowing whether Witten’s presence would have put Dallas in position to earn a trip to the Super Bowl, at least the Cowboys will get another chance to help his team pull off the ultimate goal next season in what should be another exciting year in the NFC East.

Despite how great the Eagles looked towards the end of last season along with the playoffs before falling to the New Orleans Saints, Doug Pederson knows his team will have quite the work cut out for them in 2019 if they want to be the ones on top of the division at year’s end.

Dallas was already viewed as a major threat within the division to compete with Philadelphia, but Witten returning will take things to a whole new level.

Stepping away from football last season without a Super Bowl ring was one of the most difficult decisions Witten had to make after all of the close occasions throughout his career. But if the Eagles ever thought Witten’s motivation was high before, one can only imagine what it’s going to be like in 2019 after looking at the talent this Cowboys team has to work with.
