Turns out, Simmonds was in fact traded as expected by many to the Nashville Predators right before the trade deadline, although there are mixed feelings from the fan base over whether this was the right deal.

Here’s a breakdown of what Philadelphia got in return from Nashville for Simmonds, and it’s easy to understand some of the quick reactions.

On top of the questions surrounding whether the Flyers came up on the losing end of this deal, it’s also tough not to wonder if Philadelphia made a mistake in moving on from Simmonds since they’re currently in a playoff push of their own.

Obviously, the Flyers are far from being in better shape than some of the other teams in the Eastern Conference since they currently trail the Carolina Hurricanes at the moment for the final playoff spot.

But since there are 20 games remaining in the regular season, and plenty could still happen over the next couple of weeks, one would think that Philadelphia would prefer to have all of the help possible to make this long shot become a reality with players like Simmonds.
