The Philadelphia Flyers pulled off a thrilling 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stadium Series.

Between Gritty streaking along with Claude Giroux playing in his 800th career game with the team, the Philadelphia Flyers had plenty of reasons to celebrate Saturday’s Stadium Series contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

However, none of this compares to the excitement surrounding the Flyers pulling off the epic 4-3 win over the Penguins in overtime when considering there was a point late in the game when all hope seemed lost.

By trailing Pittsburgh 3-1 late in the third period, Philadelphia’s rough week that already consisted of Carter Hart dealing with a lower-body injury seemed like it was about to get worse, that is until the Flyers pulled off an epic comeback.

It was one thing to watch James van Riemsdyk trim the lead down to 3-2 with a few minutes remaining in regulation, but all of that excitement was topped off when Jakub Voracek tied the game up in the final minute.

Shortly after, Giroux found the perfect way to end his 800th career game by netting the game-winning goal in overtime to seal the deal for the Flyers, and provide them with a huge win over their rivals to put them in better shape for a playoff run.

Against all odds, Philadelphia has somehow managed to get back into the playoff conversation when all hope seemed lost a few months back, although they still have a long way to go, as indicated in the standings.

Still, when looking at all of the problems the Penguins in general have given this team over the years, it felt amazing to watch the Flyers pull off a win the way they did Saturday night to prove once again this team can in fact compete with the best in the NHL.

When taking into consideration that Philadelphia still trails the Carolina Hurricanes by seven points for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, this team clearly still has a lot of their work on their plate from now until the end of the regular season.

At least for now, the Flyers can continue to enjoy Saturday’s thrilling win over the Penguins for a few more days before the Buffalo Sabres come to town for what will hopefully result in another win on Tuesday to continue keeping things close in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
