Latest rumors indicate Phillies, Bryce Harper in serious negotiations

The latest rumors surrounding Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies claim the two parties are in serious negotiations with John Middleton in Las Vegas.
Late Friday, Twitter made Philadelphia Phillies go wild with the latest rumors surrounding Bryce Harper after it was reported that team owner John Middleton was on his way to Las Vegas to meet with the star outfield.
Even though some reports indicated this was only a meeting, and a deal was still unlikely to happen, it didn’t stop Phillies fans from thinking about the possibility of Harper being part of the team by the end of the weekend, especially if Middleton brought his checkbook.
For the most part, the updates were pretty quiet for most of Saturday, but once again when the late-night hours started to hit, another major rumor surrounding Harper possibility coming to Philadelphia hit the web, which of course sent fans into a frenzy once again.
So what happens to be the latest rumor this time around? Well, Bob Nightengale claims negotiations between the two parties are heating up to a point where Middleton doesn’t even want to leave Las Vegas until a deal is in place.
Deep breaths, Phillies fans, deep breaths.
While it’s going to be difficult for Philadelphia fans to hold in their excitement over the next 24-48 hours waiting to see how this situation plays out, just because negotiations are seriously heating up doesn’t necessarily mean it’s guaranteed to happen.
Think about how many rumors surrounding Harper there have been over the last couple of months, and it seems like the best approach to take is waiting for an actual deal to be signed before any sort of celebration begins.
Between all of the young talent they have to work with on top of the key additions made during the offseason, the addition of Harper would take World Series expectations to a whole new level for the Phillies.
But before jumping that far ahead as far as any potential World Series run, the main focus needs to be on what’s most important for Philadelphia at the moment, which is hoping these negotiation rumors are true, and a deal does in fact get done.
Once that happens, then it will be appropriate for the Phillies to begin the World Series talk for this team.
