Carter Hart is expected to miss at least 10 days for the Philadelphia Flyers while recovering from a lower-body injury.

Words can’t describe how valuable Carter Hart has been for the Philadelphia Flyers when considering how the young goaltender has pulled the unthinkable by giving this team hope for a late playoff run, although they still have a long way to go.

Looking back at the middle of December, the Flyers knew they had nothing to lose in calling Hart up in a game against the Detroit Red Wings since their season was already on the decline, and any spark they could get would be huge.

Turns out, Philadelphia would not only go on to win that game 3-2 over Detroit, but this contest would turn out to be just the beginning of what has been an incredible first season for Hart in net for the Flyers.

With that being said, there was plenty of excitement for Hart to participate in Saturday’s Stadium Series with Philadelphia hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins, but it looks like the Flyers will need to figure out a way to win without their star goalie in net.

As if watching Hart struggle the way he has over the last two games wasn’t already frustrating enough, the Flyers will need to make the necessary adjustments over the next few weeks, as Hart is expected to miss at least 10 days with a lower-body injury.

Despite their epic turnaround over the last few months since all hope seemed lost early on in the season, Philadelphia was still viewed as a long shot to earn a trip to the playoffs since they were still far behind in the standings.

Now that Hart is expected to miss some time, this puts the Flyers in an even tougher position to earn one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference since every game the rest of the way will be extremely important to win.

Also, since the Penguins happen to be one of the teams the Flyers are trying to catch up to in the playoff standings, it’s a shame that Hart won’t be able to participate in Saturday’s game since a win over Pittsburgh would have been huge for Philadelphia.

Hopefully, Hart’s injury ends up healing faster than originally expected so the Flyers can see him back in net sooner rather than later. Otherwise, any slight hope of Philadelphia pulling off the unexpected in earning a playoff spot could quickly vanish.
