The Philadelphia 76ers continue to dominate sports headlines after their flashy big four hit the court. Could an entrepreneur learn from Philly’s rise?

Since the 2014-15 season, the Philadelphia 76ers and their hungry fan base have been thrown into a mammoth sea of emotions. Not only have Philadelphia locals been caught up in the all of the ‘Process’ hype, but the national sports media has also had plenty to contribute to the argument.

From Stephen A. Smith voicing his disgust with the organization’s approach to now vast speculation of Philly being a title contender, the Sixers have stood front-and-center of the sports world the past few seasons for many reasons: both right and wrong.

However, say you have little-to-no interest in sports. Perhaps pick swaps, Tony Wroten, and an overseas draft stash don’t pique your interest.

The Sixers unforeseen attempt to sell-off their current roster to bare bones in order to stock the organization with future options in both cap space and draft stock was a shocker to the sports world.

To an entrepreneur in the business world, however, the Sixers could act not as an outlier, but instead as a lesson. Sherrie Campbell, a contributor to Entrepreneur.com, posted an insightful and inspiring article titled “The 7 Inevitable Stages of Pain Before You Succeed.”

Many of the seven stages Campbell lists in the article mirror what it took for the Sixers to build their own unique, highly-criticized championship contender. Aspiring entrepreneurs, take a look.
