The Philadelphia 76ers have a third All-Star after all: Christian Crosby
While Jimmy Butler may have missed the All-Star game, the Philadelphia 76ers still have a third representative at the weekend: Christian Crosby.
Last summer, I wrote an article detailing how Christian Crosby was having the ‘Best Year Ever‘.
Well, it turns out the Philadelphia 76ers in-arena host’s 2019 isn’t looking too shabby either.
From his ever-expanding clothing line ‘live life nice.‘ a product of the 76ers’ revolutionary Innovation Lab, to yet another run announcing for the team that should last well into May, maybe even longer, Crosby’s roll is approaching ‘comically large snowball barreling down a mountain’- territory.
And this weekend may be Crosby’s most significant accomplishment of all: A second straight stint as NBA All-Star Saturday Night’s Host.
That’s right, while Jimmy Butler, J.J. Redick, and Tobias Harris may have missed out on an opportunity to represent the Sixers on All-Star weekend, Philadelphia will, in fact, have a third All-Star after all, as Crosby will be joining Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid in Charlotte.
And best of all? He’s bringing the Sixers’ entire Game Presentation Crew with him.
Does that mean the All-Star crowd will be awarded with some choice Wendy’s Frosties if a participant misses a pair of free throws? I guess that’s up to Adam Silver, Michael Jordan, and the staff of the Spectrum Center to decide, but much like the NBA Draft, another event Crosby tends to host, fans in attendance, both in-person, or watching from home will see a familiar face on the sidelines, cheesein’ for the world to see.
Talk about ‘Trusting the Process’.
Really, the only (very minor) cloud over the evening is that the Sixers don’t have a representative competing any of the night’s three events, as unlike last year, when Embiid participated in the Taco Bell Skills Challange, Philly’s All-Star duo will have to wait until Sunday to show the basketball world what they’re made of, a byproduct of having a pair of legitimate under-25 All-Stars.
But who knows, maybe that’s actually a blessing in disguise, as Crosby won’t have to play favorites and will be able to serve as an impartial host?
Based on Crosby’s impressive track record, I think he’ll do just fine.
So even though Simmons and Embiid will be competing on separate squads in the actual All-Star game, a very interesting sight for Philadelphia 76ers fans the world over, the real winner of the weekend is clear: It’s Christian Crosby, entering year two of his ‘Best Year Ever’.
