Round 6: Kentucky CB Derrick Baity

Could Philadelphia pull the unthinkable by selecting two Kentucky players in the upcoming draft? The chances of this happening may sound slim, but also if the Eagles feel any of the Wildcats can help fill some of their needs, they won’t hesitate to make the moves.

Believe it or not, using the draft to help fill needs at the same position are more common than some football fans realize, and going with two cornerbacks seems like a risk the Eagles can afford to take.

Since Philadelphia’s cornerbacks appear to be a mystery at this point, the thought of going with Derrick Baity if available in the sixth round could be one of those low risk, high reward situations for the Eagles if he can make a name for himself.

Baity’s ability in man coverage will most likely turn teams away from considering the Kentucky cornerback, but also if the Eagles were hopeful this are could improve once he makes the leap to the NFL, why wouldn’t this be worth the consideration?

If anything, Philadelphia should be thrilled over the fact that Baity was able to make the impact the way he did during the four years spent with the Wildcats, and focus on some of the cornerback’s strengths, such as speed.
