Round 1: Washington CB Byron Murphy

Between injuries along and players like Sidney Jones being inexperienced, the cornerback position wasn’t exactly the most consistent group for the Eagles throughout last season, although they are in better shape than most people realize.

Since the future is uncertain for Ronald Darby on top of Jalen Mills looking to bounce back from a foot injury, Philadelphia will most likely look to the draft to address their need at cornerback to put them in better shape heading into September.

Two years ago, Jones was viewed as one of the biggest steals of the draft for the Eagles since the argument could be made that he would have been a first rounder if it wasn’t for that torn Achillies suffered at Washington. And if the Eagles were looking to add another Huskies cornerback to the mix, Byron Murphy would be worth consideration if he were to still be available late in the first round.

Whether it happens to be his explosiveness or simply the skills he brings to the table in man-to-man coverage, a cornerback like Murphy would bring a lot to the table for a team like the Eagles.

Jim Schwartz will accept any extra help possible after this past season when it comes to cornerback, and there’s a reason why Murphy is projected to be off the board opening night of the draft, so for Philadelphia’s sake, the Huskies star is worth monitoring.
