The Los Angeles Rams hope to take the same path as the Philadelphia Eagles from a year ago by defeating the New England Patriots during Super Bowl 53.

Back in 2016, the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles both made the decision to trade up in the first round of the NFL Draft to put them in better position at quarterback, which has already worked wonders.

While the Rams would end up using the top pick to select Jared Goff, the Eagles selected Carson Wentz at No. 2, and the rest is history.

As football fans know, both Goff and Wentz played key roles in helping each of their teams making the playoffs during their second NFL seasons. And while it was devastating to watch Wentz go down with a serious knee injury in December 2017, the quarterback deserves all of the credit in the world for helping put the Eagles in position to make that epic Super Bowl run.

For the Rams, there was plenty of hype surrounding Goff and company last year heading into the postseason since the talent seemed to be there for a potential serious run, but unfortunately the inexperience factor came into pay, as they were eliminated right away by the Atlanta Falcons.

This season, however, Los Angeles found a way to use last year’s experience to their advantage to help them represent the NFC in this year’s Super Bowl against New England.

In a matter of hours, the Rams will find out if they have what it takes to be crowned Super Bowl 53 champions, and while some Eagles fans will make the case to cheer for the Patriots, they may want to think about what a win by Los Angeles would do for the 2016 draft class.

At the time of their selections, the Rams and Eagles always knew the potential was there for Goff and Wentz, otherwise they never would have sacrificed all the future draft picks. But when it comes to the fact that both teams were able to reach the Super Bowl within three years after these two quarterbacks were selected, it says a lot about just how special the quarterback class was in 2016.

No matter how hard football fans try to point out that Nick Foles was responsible for leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl, as mentioned before, it was Wentz who helped put them in great position in the first place.

With a win by the Rams over the Patriots, Goff would join his draft class teammate in Wentz by officially becoming a Super Bowl champion.

This may not mean much for Philadelphia fans, but if Los Angeles were to defeat New England, it would just provide another example of how lucky the Eagles were to get in on the action for the quarterback class of the 2016 NFL Draft when they did.
