Early signs point to Nick Foles could be on his way out from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The season-ending loss in New Orleans was likely the last time the Philadelphia Eagles would see quarterback Nick Foles put on the midnight green. The man who brought this city so much joy deserves more than just a thank you.

The man who ended the years of turmoil and made grown men cry. The man who was thrown to the curb, left to question his own self-worth after an unfortunate stint in St. Louis. The man who overcame all odds and silenced the critics, bringing home the first Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.

This piece isn’t in spite of Carson Wentz or a cry to keep Foles. Wentz is the future of the team and very well may be the most athletic quarterback in Eagles history. In recent weeks, it feels as if there is a rift between Eagles fans. A line of separation between “Folesian Society” and “Wentzylvania.”

Here are the facts: Wentz is a great quarterback. Foles is a great quarterback. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses, and they both contributed to the magical seasons in Philadelphia. Carson’s our guy moving forward. Nick will move on to the next chapter in his life, and I wish him nothing but the absolute best of success.

I would feel more than comfortable with either one of the two under center come kickoff in September.

At the end of the day, I’m backing the boys in midnight (and hopefully in the future, throwback Kelly green). So, when releasing this letter, I’m not trying to stir the pot that is well past it’s prime and over with.

This is simply a reflection and acknowledgment of everything St. Nick gave to the city; not just the magical moments of the last two seasons and not only the years prior that we often overlook and forget as fans, but the lessons he taught me personally.

Foles taught me everything in regards to humility, accepting failure, an appreciation for life’s peaks and valleys, and the power of faith in those who mean the most to you. In the four-part series, we took a ride along St. Nick as he experienced the ups and downs of his NFL career.

Most importantly, thank you, Nick, for showing the world what it means to be a good person, and giving us Eagles fans one heck of a ride during the process.  Here is a compilation of everything you meant to this team, this city, and this writer; I hope you enjoy it.
