While Ryquell Armstead may not be the first Temple Owls player selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, that honor will probably go to cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, he without a doubt would be the best fit with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Measuring in at 5-foot-11, 215 pounds, Armstead was an absolute beast for the Owls over his four-year tenure in North Philly; rushing for 2,812 yards and 34 touchdowns on only 573 rushing attempts.

A tough as nails competitor, Armstead appeared in 10 games for the Owls despite seemingly always being ailed by some sort of injury, with the rusher limping around on the sidelines between snaps in the Owls’ 52-40 loss to the UCF.

Think about that for a second; this dude could barely walk on the sideline and still found a way to keep his team in the game as a bell-cow rusher, that takes some serious dedication.

Speaking of on the field, Armstead has a pretty defined role in the Eagles offensive scheme should they opt to select him, as his playing style almost perfectly mirrors that of former lead back Jay Ajayi.

Though he’s not much of a factor in the passing game, either as a receiver or as a blocker, Armstead could seriously elevate the Eagles’ offense to the next level, as a reliable running back would be an absolute godsend for Doug Pederson‘s pass-happy offense. For the price of a Day 3 draft pick, keeping Ryquell Armstead in Philly seems like a no brainer.

I wouldn’t even mind if he donned his original number 25 jersey.
