The Los Angeles Dodgers recently signing A.J. Pollock could actually help the Philadelphia Phillies land Bryce Harper in free agency.

Despite how great things went in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago when the Philadelphia Phillies met Bryce Harper, there still isn’t any clear idea over where the star outfielder could end up for the 2019 season.

Money wise, the Phillies knew they would have a major advantage over most teams looking to sign Harper since they could afford to give him the hefty kind of deal he would be looking for, but this still doesn’t guarantee anything.

Only time will tell when it comes to finding out if Harper does actually end up in the City of Brotherly Love to make the rivalry with the Washington Nationals even more exciting, but at least Philadelphia recently received some good news in regards to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

With the Dodgers recently signing outfielder A.J. Pollock to a four-year, $55 million deal, the folks over at That Balls Outta Here pointed out how this move could actually benefit the Phillies in their quest for Harper.

Along with Philadelphia, Los Angeles was another team that previously expressed interest in going after Harper to give them a better chance of winning the World Series after coming up shy in each of the last two seasons.

For obvious reasons, the addition of Harper would have put the Dodgers in much better position to finally win their first World Series title since 1988, but that ship seems to have sailed after signing Pollack.

Now that Philadelphia no longer has to worry about Los Angeles continuing to pursue Harper, this puts them in better position to potentially land the superstar outfielder.

After looking at the potential surrounding the Phillies following key underrated moves this offseason between acquiring Jean Segura along with signing Andrew McCuthen, the addition of Harper would easily take that excitement to a whole new level.

Keep in mind that Philadelphia was actually in the hunt last season to make a run at the postseason before their collapse during the final two months that made it clear the team was still in need of adding key talent.

While it’s been tough at times to be patient over waiting for Harper to make a decision, at least the Phillies should feel somewhat better about the Dodgers signing Pollack since Philadelphia doesn’t mind having one less team to compete with during free agency.
