Gabe Kapler hitting it off with Bryce Harper seems like great sign for Philadelphia Phillies
By Dan Parzych
During a recent interview, Philadelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler discussed how he hit it off with Bryce Haprer during last weekend’s meeting with the superstar free agent.
Rumors surrounding the possibility of Bryce Harper joining the Philadelphia Phillies continue to heat up when seeing how all eyes are on the star outfielder to see which team he will choose to play for during the 2019 season and beyond.
Rightfully so, Harper has been viewed as one of the most sought-after free agents this offseason when looking at how quickly he’s been able to emerge as one of the to players in all of baseball, whether it involves his ability in the outfield or simply the fact that he’s a power hitter.
From Philadelphia’s perspective, there’s no question the addition of a skilled player like Harper would put the team in a much better position to compete during the 2019 season, especially when seeing how competitive they were last year before collapsing in the final two months.
Last weekend, the level of excitement in the City of Brotherly Love hit a whole new level when Gabe Kapler and other members of the Phillies organization met up with Harper in Las Vegas to discuss the possibility of him coming on board.
As of Friday, no deal has been offered to Harper by Philadelphia, but when seeing how Kapler recently sat down with Brian Kenny for an interview, and discussed how he felt the two hit it off, which is a great sign for the Phillies.
Between the great food the city of Philadelphia can offer along with the fact that Citizens Bank Park has always been known to be a hitter-friendly ballpark, the Phillies seem like a great fit for a star player like Harper.
Add the comments by Kapler into the mix since it’s always important a manager and player are on the same page, this can only be viewed as a great sign for a team like Philadelphia when it comes to their chances of landing Harper.
Sooner rather than later, Harper will need to finally make a decision in regards to the team he wants to play for, whether it happens to be the Phillies or if the unexpected happens in which he returns to the Washington Nationals.
For Philadelphia’s sake, let’s hope Harper goes with Kapler and company since this team has been patient enough over the years when it comes to returning to the elite level of becoming a serious contender again in the National League.
