The rumors surrounding the possibility of Bryce Harper or Manny Machado ending up with the Philadelphia Phillies continue to swirl.

More than ever, the Philadelphia Phillies rumors surrounding the possibility of the team signing Bryce Harper or Manny Machado when seeing how both superstars seem like they could make their decision at any given moment.

This past weekend, the Phillies met with Harper and his representatives in Las Vegas, with some reports indicating that Philadelphia could make an offer as early as this week.

As of Wednesday, no official deal has been offered yet by the Phillies, but a new take by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale has added another interesting take to the story.

For months, there was always some talk about the possibility of Philadelphia landing both Harper and Machado, even if it seemed like an absolute long shot. Unlike most teams this offseason, the Phillies have a ton of money to spend on big-name players.

So when it came to the thought of Harper and Machado both making the decision to come to Philadelphia to immediately make the team a top contender in the National League, this idea didn’t sound so crazy after all.

That’s where Tuesday night comes into play, as Nightengale, who has been all over the Machado and Harper coverage this offseason, posted a surprising tweet, which Philadelphia fans couldn’t help but smile over.

Either one of these players would obviously be a great addition for the Phillies, but just the thought that Nightengale is pushing the possibility of “both” players being in uniform on Opening Day for Philadelphia takes the potential excitement to a whole new level.

Despite how great players like Rhys Hoskins have been over the last year or so, the Phillies have made it clear just how much the team has needed help when it comes to power hitters.

With Harper or Machado, this area of weakness would seen immediate improvement heading into the 2019 season.

Only time will tell when it comes to seeing what Harper and Machado end up deciding on for their future in baseball, but at least from Philadelphia’s perspective, just being in the running at this point is amazing since it shows the Phillies mean business heading into the 2019 season.
