The Philadelphia Eagles advanced to the Divisional Round of the playoffs thanks to a thrilling 16-15 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

With the Chicago Bears in position for the game-winning field goal to advance to the Divisional Round, the Philadelphia Eagles appeared to be on their way to watching their season come to an end.

Thanks to some help from a familiar face in the Cody Parkey, the Eagles will live to see another week after their former kicker missed a field goal from 43 yards out with a few seconds remaining in the game, meaning the defending champions will now face the New Orleans Saints.

As bad as it sounds, Parkey hasn’t exactly been the most reliable kicker in the world for the Bears, and the Eagles deserve a ton of credit for making the right call on icing him before that missed kick, especially after he would have made the first one.

Of course, Parkey’s missed field goal wasn’t the only thing that stood out from this thrilling win for Philadelphia when seeing how there were plenty of other factors to take into consideration.

Whether it was the defense stepping up once again for the most part by limiting the Bears to just 15 points to Nick Foles brushing off two interceptions by still finding ways to make big plays, this was a big team win for the Eagles.

Earning a trip to the playoffs the way they did by winning their final three games of the regular season was impressive, but to win in Chicago against one of the toughest defenses the NFL has to offer in the Bears may have been the most impressive win of their recent streak.

Philadelphia has been a team on a mission over the last month or so in a similar role to last year when nobody believed they had what it takes to make a run at the Super Bowl. And while the Saints are going to be another tough battle on the road, the Eagles are the last team any football fan should sleep on at the moment.

When looking at how much confidence this team is playing with at the moment following another major win over the Bears, the Eagles have the mindset of feeling they can beat any team standing in their way right now.

New Orleans will most likely be a much tougher matchup when seeing how the previous meeting went during the regular season, but Philadelphia is playing a whole new level of football right now.

At the end of the day, the playoffs are a whole new season, and with the Eagles most likely being underdogs once again when facing the Saints, all eyes will be on the defending champions to see if they keep the magic rolling like against the Bears.
