Cleveland Browns: Baker Mayfield

It finally appears that the Cleveland Browns have found their long coveted answer at quarterback in Baker Mayfield. After years of subpar quarterback play, the Browns finally have their face of the franchise.

The only question now is why did it take Hue Jackson waiting until a Week 3 injury to Tyrod Taylor to finally insert Mayfield as the starter, and why did Cleveland wait so long to fire Jackson as they have been red-hot since his departure.

If it weren’t for Saquon Barkley and Phillip Lindsay, then Mayfield would be a shoo-in to win rookie of the year. Mayfield can still win the award, and it will be interesting to see how it all goes down. But we do know this, Mayfield is good, perhaps really good.

After coming close to the playoffs in 2018, it will be interesting to see what direction the Browns choose to go in as they head to 2019. Will they retain Gregg Williams as head coach and what upgrades will Cleveland make to their roster.

But, really for the first time since returning to Cleveland in 1999, the Browns have hope, and that hope lies in the hands of the University of Oklahoma product.
