Predicting each NFL teams starting quarterback on opening day 2019
By Jake Starr
Los Angeles Rams: Jared Goff
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is one of many great young quarterbacks around the league. After going 11-4 last season, Goff followed up that campaign by going 13-3 this season. The future sure looks bright under Goff and Sean McVay in Los Angeles.
In 2018, Goff threw for 4,688 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. After struggling in his rookie season, Goff’s performance the last two years has helped to validate them moving up to number one to select Goff in the 2016 draft.
There is the potential for Goff and McVay to be the next great coach and quarterback tandem in the league. No one may ever be on the level of Brady and Bill Belichick, but Goff and Mcvay have the looks of coming close to that level.
Obviously, no one knows how they will fare in the postseason, but their performances in the last two regular seasons are near the top of the NFL. The Rams have combined to go 24-8 in 2017 and 2018 combined.
When the 2019 season kicks off, there is no doubt that Goff will be the starting quarterback for the Rams. If he can continue his success in 2019, then we may just be watching the next great quarterback in Los Angeles.
