Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes

There is absolutely no doubt as to who the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback will be when the 2019 season begins in September. Patrick Mahomes might be the league MVP in his first season as the starter, and it appears he is on track to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

In 2018, Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and only 12 interceptions. What the Texas Tech product did this year is nothing short of remarkable and makes it very clear why Andy Reid decided to trade Alex Smith last offseason, opening up the job for Mahomes.

At 60-years old, Reid’s window to win a Super Bowl is closing. The Hall of Fame coach has been so close so many times but has been known to fall short in the postseason. But, he may finally now have the quarterback that can get him over that hump.

Mahomes has the potential to be the best quarterback Reid has ever coached, and if he turns in performances like he did this year, then “Big Red’s” Super Bowl draught may not last all that much longer.

As long as he stays healthy, Mahomes will be the Chiefs quarterback in 2019 and for a very long time. At 23-years old, Mahomes could be the Chiefs quarterback and the class of all NFL quarterbacks for at least the next decade, if not longer.
