The Philadelphia Eagles would love nothing more than to see another big game by Darren Sproles in Week 17 when taking on the Washington Redskins.

Since his return from injury, the Philadelphia Eagles had been patiently waiting to see Darren Sproles have one of his breakout games, which luckily came last weekend in the team’s 32-30 win over the Houston Texans.

With the Eagles in desperation mode to keep their playoff hopes alive, Sproles not only led the offense in rushing with 32 yards on nine carries, but the veteran running back also came through with three catches for 76 yards to go along with a touchdown.

When seeing how running back hasn’t exactly been the most consistent position for Philadelphia this season, it was amazing to see Sproles finally come through the way he did during Week 16, but hopefully he’s not finished yet.

As the Eagles prepare for their regular-season finale against the Washington Redskins, there’s nothing the defending champions would love more than for Sproles to match his Week 16 performance, if not better, to keep those playoff hopes alive.

Even though Philadelphia’s playoff fate will also come down to what happens in the NFC North between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, none if that will matter if the Eagles can’t figure out a way to defeat the Redskins.

Whether it happens to be Nick Foles having another monster game or simply the defense taking advantage of Washington being down to their fourth-string quarterback, the Eagles will take all of the help they can get in order to defeat the Redskins.

For Sproles, the veteran running back already made it clear that 2018 would be his final NFL season, and just like the rest of his teammates, there’s nothing he would love more than to see this final journey continue into January.

Winning the Super Bowl last season was truly amazing, but also keep in mind that Sproles was hurt back in September, therefore didn’t get to enjoy the experience as much since he was forced to watch from the sidelines.

This time around, if the Eagles manage to win on Sunday along with the Vikings finding a way to lose to the Bears, well then Sproles will have the chance to play a key role in helping the defending champions make another deep playoff run.

But before jumping that far ahead, all of the focus for Sproles and the rest of his teammates will be making sure the Eagles earn a win over the Redskins Sunday afternoon. Otherwise, it’s going to be a long offseason consisting of wondering what could have been.
