The playoff schedule is set for the Philadelphia Eagles during Sunday afternoon when they take on the Chicago Bears.

Never in a million years did anyone think a few weeks ago that the Philadelphia Eagles of all teams would be sitting in the No. 6 seed of the NFC playoff picture, but that’s exactly the case thanks to some impressive play during the final stretch.

Hope seemed lost for the defending champions when they suffered that crushing overtime loss on the road to the Dallas Cowboys earlier in December. But thanks to players like Nick Foles stepping up when needed the most to help the Eagles win their final three games while receiving some help from the Chicago Bears in Week 17, Philadelphia will have another shot to defend their Super Bowl title.

Speaking of the Bears, Matt Nagy‘s team found themselves in an interesting situation during their regular-season finale since it was the Minnesota Vikings who were battling the Eagles for the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.

When considering that Chicago was expected to host one of these two teams in the opening round of the playoffs, the Bears could have decided to rest some of their starters late during Sunday’s game, but also were technically still in the hunt for the No. 2 seed in the NFC.

The Los Angeles Rams may have gone on to lock up the first-round bye over the Bears, but thanks to Chicago defeating Minnesota on the road to help Philadelphia sneak their way in to the postseason, now comes the fun part of the meaningful games.

As a result of Sunday’s games, it turns out the Eagles will take on the Bears during the final spot of the Wild Card Round in what should be quite the epic NFC battle.

Many wondered if the Bears would prefer to play the Vikings over the Eagles since Philadelphia has been one of the hottest teams the NFL has seen over the last three weeks, but at least Chicago still has the talent to make this a very tough matchup.

Nobody needs to explain to Philadelphia just how dangerous of a team Chicago is since there’s a reason why their defense is viewed as one of the best in the league by many when seeing some of the high-powered offenses they’ve managed to keep in check.

Foles certainly managed to find success against talented defenses like the Rams and Texans, but what the Super Bowl MVP is expected to see when facing the Bears may be nothing like these previous battles during the regular season.

Then again, the Eagles have a few advantages working in their favor as well over the Bears, whether it happens to be their previous playoff experience or simply the fact that Philadelphia is playing with a ton of confidence at the moment.

Either way, when seeing all of the ups and downs this team has been dealing with all season, isn’t it amazing to think about how the Eagles still managed to work their way into the playoffs for a legitimate shot to defend their Super Bowl title?
