Slow down Todd Gurley

Last Sunday was the Rams worst offensive performance of the season. They put up six-points and turned the ball over four times, all on Jared Goff interceptions. It was Goff’s worst game since his rookie year, and the talented Bears‘ defense deserves a lot of credit.

A big key to the Bears’ defensive success was their ability to stifle Rams’ running back Todd Gurley. Gurley was held to 28-yards on 11-carries, making the Rams’ offense very one-dimensional.

The Bears’ defense is much more talented than what the Eagles will have out there on Sunday, but Eagles’ defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz needs to find a way to replicate what the Bears did. If they can slow down Gurley, then they can have a chance to contain the Rams’ offense.

There is no way the Eagles will completely shut down Gurley and the Rams offense, but if they can hold them to under 30-points, then a good day from the Eagles’ offense could keep this game close and give the Eagles a chance to win it.

On defense, the Eagles have been prone to giving up big plays on the ground, as they gave up 113-yards to Ezekiel Elliott last week. After surrendering 576-yards to Dallas, it is hard to imagine the Eagles slowing down the Rams offense, but if somehow they can, then maybe they can pull off the upset on Sunday night.
