The Philadelphia Phillies made another offseason splash, as they inked Andrew McCutchen to a three-year deal.

Many expected this offseason to be a big one for the Philadelphia Phillies, as they took the next step in their rebuild. They made their first splash when they traded for Jean Segura a few weeks back, and they headed to the Winter Meetings this week with every intention of opening up their checkbook some more.

The next big move was made on Tuesday when the Phillies signed outfielder Andrew McCutchen to a three-year deal, worth $50 million. At 32, McCutchen will likely see himself in a corner outfield spot for the Phillies next season.

McCutchen is coming off a season in which he hit .255 while slugging 20 home runs between the San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees. He is entering the back-half of his career, but the five-time All-Star and 2013 MVP still likely has a lot to offer.

This deal really doesn’t clear up much of where the Phillies are heading this offseason as there are still plenty of directions Philadelphia can go from here. Plenty of guys from last year’s team are trade candidates and this certainly does not mean the Phillies are done making big moves.
