Does Furkan Korkmaz have a future in Philly?

So, what exactly does Furkan Korkmaz’s future look like upon season’s completion?

Will he continue to play well as a 3-and-D, supersized J.J. Redick coming off the bench for the Philadelphia 76ers, or will he have to find a new opportunity to showcase his talents elsewhere after fizzling out down the stretch?

Could Korkmaz ultimately leave the team prematurely in a February trade for a proven roleplayer?

At this point, that question kind of can’t be answered in good faith.

Was Kormaz’s 18-point bell-ringing performance against the Pistons the start of the next chapter in the 21-year-old’s basketball career, or yet another ‘flash in the pan’ outing followed up by a string of less than stellar showcases?

Fortunately for Brett Brown, Elton Brand, and company, the organization has 26 more games to find out before the trade deadline.

Though it would be unwise to get prematurely locked into a long-term deal with a player who’s yet to even establish his NBA baseline, at this point, the Sixers need to prioritize the acquisition and retention of talent if they are going to replace the Cleveland Cavaliers as the torchbearers of the Eastern Conference.

Is Furkan Korkmaz a future starter? A reliable role player? A flash in the pan scorer? Only time will tell, and fortunately, the Philadelphia 76ers have plenty of it to gather information before a decision has to be made in July.
