So, if Furkan Korkmaz isn’t (hypothetically) in the team’s plans moving forward, why not move on from him at the trade deadline for a more immediate contributor?

With 26 more games left to play before the 2019 NBA trade deadline, if the Sixers don’t see enough growth in Korkmaz to warrant an extension past the season, why not ship him off to another team in the hopes of making the team better in the lead up to their second straight postseason appearance?

Whether the team wants to add a veteran reserve big man like Zach Randolph, a two-way wing like podcaster Kent Bazemore, or even an ISO ball combo forward like Carmelo Anthony, if Kormaz isn’t going to be a part of the plan moving forward, he could be the ‘centerpiece’ of a midseason trade.

It’s not like the 76ers are strangers to this kind of move either, as they’ve already reshaped the Eastern Conference landscape with a franchise-altering trade for Jimmy Butler earlier this season. While Korkmaz isn’t going to earn that kind of monster return, he could be enough to add that one final rotation piece to push the team into NBA finals contention.

With three second-round picks, and Justin Patton‘s contract also on the books, if the 76ers decide they need another piece to complete their puzzle that isn’t Furkan Korkmaz, he could help to secure it moving forward.
