8. J.A. Happ

How ironic would it be after all these years, J.A. Happ made a return to the City of Brotherly Love?

In what seems like forever ago, the Phillies traded Happ to the Houston Astros in the middle of the 2010 season as part of a deal for Philadelphia to land Roy Oswalt, which arguably seemed like a steal at the time.

While Happ put together an amazing campaign during the 2009 season by finishing with a 12-4 record to help the Phillies trade him when his stock was high, the next couple of seasons weren’t exactly the most impressive in the world.

A couple years down the road, Happ would eventually be traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in the middle of the 2012 season, which actually ended up being his first stint with the team.

After bouncing around to a few different teams, Happ eventually ended back up with the Blue Jays after signing him before the 2016 season, which was arguably the best year of his career after finishing with a 20-4 record.

As Blue Jays fans know, the team would end up trading Happ once again in the middle of the 2018 season to the New York Yankees since his stock was extremely high once again. But now that Happ is a free agent, even if he is 36-years old, it will be interesting to see if the Phillies make a push for the veteran or if they simply realize bringing him back on board will end up being too costly.
