With the Dallas Cowboys knocking off the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, the Philadelphia Eagles face even more pressure in Week 13 to win.

After coming back last Sunday to defeat the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles found themselves in better position to make a run for the NFC East title, although it wasn’t going to be easy.

Since the Eagles would be entering Week 13 trailing both the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys for first place, the defending champions were going to need some help if they were to have any chance of being tied on top of the division by week’s end.

Not only would Philadelphia need to come through with a win of their own over Washington on Monday for this to happen, but also the team was hoping that Dallas would lose to the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night.

Seeing how the Saints were the hottest team in the NFL leading up to the game with 10 wins in a row, it’s easy to see why Eagles fans were so confident in the Cowboys coming up short.

Unfortunately for Philadelphia, Dallas ended up playing one of their best games of 2018 on Thursday, as the defense stepped up in a big way to defeat New Orleans 13-10.

Holding a high-powered offense like the Saints to just 10 points is quite an accomplishment for the Cowboys on defense, and after this win, they certainly deserve the honors of being the team to beat in the NFC East at the moment.

As for what this means for the Eagles, while there’s no reason to believe their season is over since they still have five games remaining, this does add additional pressure to Monday’s meeting with the Redskins.

With a loss to Washington, this would result in Philadelphia trailing Dallas by two games in the division race, and most likely mean the NFC East title would be out of reach.

Even if the argument could be made that plenty could happen over the final four games, this is the last situation the Eagles want to find themselves in. So by the time Monday night rolls around, here’s to hoping Philadelphia is on top of their game to defeat Washington, or they can kiss those playoff hopes goodbye.
