NFL Power Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles keep hope alive in Week 13
26. Detroit Lions
When the Detroit Lions defeated the Carolina Panthers back in Week 11 by a score of 20-19, it may have created some unfortunate expectations that Matt Patricia‘s squad had finally put it all together, and taken a step towards NFL relevancy.
If their embarrassing loss to the Chase Daniel-lead Chicago Bears are of any indication, it would appear that hope was misguided at best.
In the first of a trio of uneventful Thanksgiving day games, the Lions struggled to contain the Bears’ career backup signal caller, who picked apart their secondary to the tune of 230 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Matt Stafford? Well, he recorded six more yards than Daniel, but instead of throwing a pair of touchdowns, he threw a couple of balls to the other team.
Now, remind me again, which player is making $100 million?
Though the Lions fortunes shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise, as the team were sellers at the trade deadline, but still, it would be nice to see the Patricia and company slowly getting things together, and building towards a bright future, instead of spinning their wheels in the mud with an aging quarterback. That’s just not a winning formula.
