NFL Power Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles keep hope alive in Week 13
28. New York Giants
The New York Giants had a chance to vault themselves back into consideration against the Philadelphia Eagles in what could have been the most surprising win of the season, but after leading going into halftime, Pat Shurmur‘s squad collapsed down the stretch, much by their own making.
From the team’s decision not to throw the ball deep after a pre-halftime interception by Malcolm Jenkins, to the absolutely unconscionable decision to give Saquon Barkley a quarter off in the third, the Giants proved themselves the lesser team in virtually every possible situation on Sunday afternoon.
One honestly has to wonder if the team even wanted to win the game at all.
Actually, that may be a good question to ask: Do the Giants even want to win?
It’s clear this is the final season Eli Manning will don the Blue and White, and with a franchise running back already on the roster, it’s entirely possible that the Giants may be in the market for a brand new first-round quarterback, like Oregon’s Justin Herbert.
With the Giants currently tied for the second-worst record in the league, if the team is serious about taking a step forward under Shurmur, it may be wise to take a step back before vaulting themselves into a new era of football in New York City.
