NFL Power Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles keep hope alive in Week 13
With Week 12 (basically) in the books highlighted by a Philadelphia Eagles win, here’s Section 215’s brand new NFL Power Rankings going into Week 13.
After putting together a few of these NFL Power Rankings after disheartening losses, it’s nice to spend a day writing about football following a very promising Philadelphia Eagles win, even if it was only over the lowly, probably should be tanking, New York Giants.
With 29 rushing attempts vs. only 20 completed passes Doug Pederson finally realized that a team can’t just throw the ball early and often to win games in the NFL, no, to win consistently, you have to commit to running the ball early and often, even if the results aren’t there.
However, the results were there for the Eagles in front of their ravenous fans at Lincoln Financial Field, as Josh Adams, Corey Clement and company basically ran unguarded for much of the afternoon, recording 127-yards and a touchdown on the ground.
This newfound commitment to moving the chains on the ground helped to push the time of possession battle further in the Eagles favor and gave their depleted defense extra time to work things out on the sideline in the second half after one of the worst first-half defensive performances the franchise has ever fielded over the last 80-years.
Had the Eagles lost this game, they would have effectively been eliminated from the playoffs once and for all, but with a Philadelphia win and a Washington loss, the team is now two games out of first place with a trio of games against NFC East opponents still left to play.
But how did the Eagles big ugly win over the Giants effect their place in the Section 215 NFL Power Rankings? Breeze through this slideshow and find out for yourself!
