The Philadelphia Eagles and their fans are feeling extra thankful this Thanksgiving after the team won the Super Bowl last February.

As the Philadelphia Eagles continue to prepare for their Week 12 showdown with the New York Giants, the defending champions will also be keeping an eye on the Thanksgiving set of games, especially in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins.

At the moment, the Eagles currently trail the Redskins by two games for first place in the division, meaning a win on Thursday by the Cowboys would actually help trim that lead down to one.

Philadelphia fans may not want to even think about the thought of cheering for Dallas on a day like Thanksgiving, but when seeing how this could help them for the final six weeks of action, it’s one of those things they just need to accept.

Around this time last year, the Eagles were enjoying the benefits of having one of the best records in the NFL, which as every football fan knows, resulted in the team later hoisting their first Super Bowl title in franchise history.

For decades, Philadelphia was always one of those teams that had numerous opportunities to win it all when seeing some of the talented teams, especially during the Donovan McNabb days, they had to work with, but would always come up short.

To say watching the Eagles and their fans celebrate last winter after all of those years of frustration was well worth it would be a huge understatement when seeing how some to this day are still celebrating.

And in honor of the holiday season, it’s safe to say those members of the team along with fans are feeling a little extra thankful this Thanksgiving for being part of the experience.

In fact, it’s safe to assume that winning the Super Bowl in February will be something all parties involved will be thankful for the rest of their lives when looking at all of the pain and suffering they went through in the years leading up to last season.

So while it may be disappointing to see the Eagles currently sitting at 4-6 with a difficult path ahead of them if they’re going to have any chance at winning the NFC East over any of the three other teams, it’s also better to enjoy things one currently has.

Even if Philadelphia ends up falling short of making the playoffs, the team will forever be thankful for the enjoyment surrounding last year’s epic run.
