The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to be big spenders this offseason, and Dallas Keuchel could be one name worth monitoring in free agency.

It seems like only yesterday the MLB season officially came to an end, and before fans know it, the Philadelphia Phillies will be getting their 2019 campaign underway.

Despite finishing the 2018 season two games below .500, there were times in which the Phillies actually looked like contenders in the National League, which is also why it was so frustrating to see them fall apart during the final two months.

As Philadelphia fans remember well, the team was actually in great position to make a run at the playoffs at the beginning of August, whether it was through winning the division or simply earning one of the Wild Card spots.

Unfortunately, the inexperience seemed to catch up to the Phillies during the final two months of the regular season, and as a result, the team ended up watching the playoffs from home.

With that being said, just because the 2018 season didn’t finish the way Philadelphia was hoping it would doesn’t mean they won’t be capable of making the leap to serious contender next year.

In fact, when looking at all of the money the Phillies are expected to spend in free agency, this will hopefully only increase their chances of making this dream to become a top contender in the National League more of a reality.

That’s where Dallas Keuchel could come into play when seeing how the Houston Astros star has already been linked to Philadelphia as a potential free agent to sign to provide another reliable option to their rotation.

Keuchel’s record (12-11) from this past season may not have been his best, but the 30-year-old has plenty of experience that could help the Phillies reach a whole new level of play in 2018.

Take into consideration how he would join a Philadelphia rotation already led by Aaron Nola and Jake Arrieta, just thinking about the potential surrounding Gabe Kapler‘s squad brings a ton of excitement.

Of course, this is simply just all talk at the moment, and nothing is guaranteed when it comes to the possibility of Keuchel joining the Phillies. But if he did, Philadelphia would certainly find themselves in much better position to make a run for the NL East title over other teams like the Atlanta Braves or Washington Nationals.
