2. Butler worth upgrading over Covington, Saric

No matter what, Covington and Saric deserve a ton of credit for sticking it out all these years since Sixers fans will be the first to say that all of those years of rebuilding weren’t always the easiest thing in the world to deal with. While Covington was arguably the one former player that dealt with it the most when seeing how many seasons he was around in Philadelphia, Saric deserves just as much credit since Brown and company knew trading both players was quite difficult.

Without Covington and Saric over the years, who knows if the Sixers would even be in this current position when it comes to finally having the Big Three they always dreamed of. But as great as it was to watch Covington and Saric during their time in Philadelphia, there’s no question that Butler is a major upgrade over what the team had to work with before, as this is going to pay off in a big way for the long run.

Competing for a championship has always been the top priority for the Sixers, and unfortunately moving on from two fan favorites is just a business decision at the end of the day. It would have been great to see Covington and Saric help Philadelphia compete for a championship, but when it comes to Butler, the star forward is clearly an upgrade to put the team in an even better position to make this dream become more of a reality.
