13. Philadelphia Eagles

Is the Philadelphia Eagles‘ season over? Technically no, but if they continue to play some of the least inspired football I’ve ever seen, it may as well be.

Now does the team have the same level of talent that they were last season? No, they still have a big need at running back and have a secondary that’s down to the bottom of the barrel, but effort and execution appear to be the Eagles biggest problems, not their next man up mentality.

Want a single play that encompasses the team’s entire season? Look no further than Ezekiel Elliott hurdling Tre Sullivan on a whiffed, no effort tackle in the middle of the field.

Honestly, I’d be shocked if he’s on the team next week, as that will go down as one of the most embarrassing plays of the season.  It may be better to just go into hiding and pursue a new career.

All jokes aside, the Eagles are still very much in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs, as the Redskins are only two games up in the East, but if they can’t find a visceral and passionate lust for victory, 2018 will go down as one of the more disappointing seasons in recent memory.

There can be no happiness without the knowledge of sadness, and after basking in the glory of a Super Bowl win, the Eagles sudden fall from grace stings all the more deeply, as the City of Brotherly Love will in all likelihood fail to repeat as Super Bowl champs in the short-term.
