NFL Power Rankings, Week 10: Eagles upgrade at receiver during bye week
By Dan Parzych
11. Washington Redskins
Just when it seemed like the Washington Redskins were earning the respect they clearly deserved in the NFC, the Atlanta Falcons came to town, and put a stop to their momentum from their previous three games. Obviously, one loss isn’t a huge reason for concern, but when looking at how well the Redskins’ defense had been playing in recent weeks before allowing the Falcons to put up 38 points, this hurts.
Even more frustrating for Washington, Alex Smith and company only managed to put up 14 points in this tough loss to watch their lead in the NFC East slim down to one game over the Eagles, who were fortunate enough to enjoy the bye week. Speaking of Smith, seeing how the veteran quarterback led the Redskins with 22 rushing yards from one carry shows what kind of day this was for the team on offense.
Smith knew that his situation in Washington would be much different than his time in Kansas City since he wasn’t going to even come close to having some of the similar weapons to work with. But with a favorable game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers scheduled for Week 10, it will be interesting to see if the Redskins can get back on track in the winning department.
