The Philadelphia Eagles kept busy before the trade deadline by bringing in another weapon for Carson Wentz to work with in Golden Tate.

Leading up to Tuesday’s trade deadline, there was some speculation over the possibility of the Philadelphia Eagles trying to acquire another wide receiver since they could certainly use the help, which the team did with Golden Tate.

As surprising of a move as this was since Tate was considered the top target in the passing game for the Detroit Lions over the last couple of years, Eagles fans weren’t mad about the decision since the addition of the wideout just makes life easier for Carson Wentz.

Despite having two reliable targets for the most part in Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor along with one of the league’s most effective pass-catching tight ends in Zach Ertz, it’s been no secret how much additional help Philadelphia has been searching for at the wide receiver position.

Sure, some will make the case that Jordan Matthews gave the team hope after hauling in four catches for 93 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. But when seeing how Matthews only had six catches leading up to that point, this is just one of many examples behind the decision of the Eagles to bring Tate on board.

Right away, there’s every reason to believe that Tate will become a favorite target for Wentz to work with while benefitting from opposing defenders focusing on the whereabouts of his new teammates.

Even more exciting, since the trade for Tate came during the bye week, this will allow the new Eagles wideout to spend a little extra time with Wentz to develop the necessary chemistry heading into Week 10.

As Philadelphia fans know, the first game for Tate will suit up for will be against a familiar face in the Dallas Cowboys in what will most likely turn into an epic showdown if previous years are any indication of what to expect.

With the NFC East up for grabs heading into the final two months of the regular season, the Eagles realize what’s at stake when they do face the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. And if Tate quickly catches up in his new system, it’s only going to put Philadelphia in better position to take down their division rivals, especially if he’s clicking on all cylinders with Wentz.
